Oxford CAMRA pub guide

The Oxford CAMRA guide to pubs in Oxford, Abingdon, Witney and West Oxfordshire

This map has all the pubs that are in the Oxford branch area. If you are looking further afield, visit the WhatPub nationwide online pub guide

The branch has also produced a guide to all the pubs that have any real ale in Oxford City Centre. Please note that this was printed in July 2015 and it is inevitable that there will have been changes, and indeed closures (no. 1, Adventurer) or openings (Pint Shop in George Street) since. If any details are important to your visit please check with the pub or whatpub.com beforehand.

Oxford City Centre Pubs with Map

This is a bit awkward to handle since it is A3 size. Here is a more user-friendly map of the city centre with branch recommended pubs and some current information. City centre pubs May 2018

  1. Hei.  I’ am stig from Oslo, Norway.  I’am going to visit real ale pubs in the city centre of Oxford in May.  But is there a big Tesco, Waitrose etc in the city centre where I can buy bottles beers from breweries like West Berkshire, Theakstons, Cotleigh etc?

    Regards

    Stig

    1. Hi Stig. The big supermarkets tend to be on shopping centres outside the city centre. I suppose the biggest in the centre is Sainsburys in the Westgate Centre. There is also a Tesco Metro (and a Sainsburys Local) in Magdalen Street next to Debenhams. There is also a Sainsburys Local in St Aldates opposite the Town Hall. The St Aldates Tavern a few doors down is one of the best pubs. I have never been in these shops and don’t know what beer they stock but I expect they have a decent range of fairly mainstream stuff, not necessarily local. The best ‘drink’ shop would appear to be The Grog Shop in Kingston Road but it is a bit of a walk. Start up Walton Street and keep going. While you are up there you could visit the Rose & Crown in North Parade and the Lamb & Flag in St Giles which are another 2 good pubs. I hope you enjoy your visit.

  2. Hello,

I am writing an article on dog-friendly pubs in Oxfordshire for Round & About magazine.  I was wondering whether you could possibly give me a list of all the pubs in the county so I can contact them direct.

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Kind regards
